The Agency for Strategic Development and Reforms held a meeting with representatives of McKinsey & Company, the international consulting firm based in the United States of America.
The meeting addressed matters of cooperation in the preparation of the draft Industrial Development Strategy until 2035.
Pursuant to Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. UP-201 of 30 October 2025, the Agency for Strategic Development and Reforms coordinates the engagement of foreign experts and consulting firms by government bodies for the implementation of structural reforms.
In particular, the Ministry of Economy and Finance plans to engage McKinsey & Company to provide advisory services on industrial development.
The parties discussed the concept and core content of the strategy. Particular attention was given to the following aspects to be reflected therein:
1) developing the draft strategy primarily in line with the initiatives of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the ongoing reforms, with a special focus on the quality of human capital;
2) prioritising the competitiveness of industry at the regional and global levels, taking into account expectations and risks in external markets;
3) considering the opportunities and prospects of the domestic segment of market relations in conjunction with Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization;
4) reflecting development not only at the sectoral level, but also at the national, regional, district and mahalla levels;
5) applying environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles as standards for measuring environmental and social impact.
The guests emphasised that industrial localisation is of strategic importance for any country and expressed the consulting firm's readiness to cooperate with Uzbekistan in this area.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to hold regular meetings to discuss the advanced areas to be covered by the Industrial Development Strategy, as well as regional specialisation.
